It is quite muddy around the farm at the moment so if you have a buggy youll need to lift it through that section. Langley4.5 milesThings get a lot more interesting on this third route option, if you have that extra time that you need. There are over 130 car parks throughout the forest and each one has a gateway into the wider forest. In Kimpton itself, you'll then visit the lovely church and a nice pub on the High Street if you need refreshments. This walk / cycle route has something for everyone great views of St Albans cathedral, a spot of retail therapy at the Galleria shopping centre and lots of history at Hatfield House. After a short stroll through a residential area, you'll then embark on a nice countryside loop that crosses a pretty bridge over the River Mimram, and then climbs up a steep hill towards Harmer Green. Therfield4.25 milesThis third route option is the 'glory walk' from the pretty village of Therfield. You can begin at the Iron Bridge and simply follow the perimeter road around . Find out more about Barton Hills National Nature Reserve. Otherwise it's another walk mainly consisting of arable farmland walking and as a bonus, you'll visit the impressive Cromer Windmill. There isn't a pub on this route, but there are some eateries on the Kings Langley High Street, where we also have some additional walks. You can park on the side of the road here or try the Hexton Road car park (SG5 3BP) which has space for about 4 cars. Also see if you can spot frog spawn. This nature reserve is a mix of woodland, ponds and open meadowland. This is a very short family-friendly pub walk around the pretty village of Barley, Hertfordshire. As soon as you leave the village the walk starts heading on a long downhill walk towards Royston and you'll enjoy wonderful sweeping views as you walk. It offers an excellent ride from the heart of Tonbridge alongside the River Medway, out into the countryside to the glorious buildings of Penshurst Place. There is a short section of walking along a road with no footpath on this route, so please be careful here. Even on a dull day the views are pretty spectacular. Frithsden Breeches5.5 milesThe third route option is basically an extension to the first walk for those of you that want to spend more time exploring this area of majestic woodlands. The walk doesn't visit the village of Green End, but instead descends through Graves Wood to take you on a walk along The Old Bourne track and a long the valley. The extension doesn't add a lot of variety as such as it's just an extra loop of open countryside, but the extra distance will add to your appetite for your visit to the lovely village pub after your walk. This former gravel quarry turned nature reserve is located between Welwyn Garden City and Knebworth. This is Hertfordshires only national nature reserve and its a good one for families. The walk takes you on a climb up through lovely countryside and woodland until you reach the wonderful St Lawrence Church on the outskirts of Ayot St Lawrence. Theres a dedicated cycle trail which weve yet to try but we loved the walk across the fields to the ruined folly a great spot for kids to explore and let their imaginations run wild. This version enjoys everything from the other walks, but also heads further south to walk around another of the Willow Lakes and also passes the entrance to the Willows Activity Farm. It then heads back through various woodlands and more pretty countryside to the start point in Tewin where there is a another pub if you need more refreshments. Note that there are lots of steps at the beginning of the line in Harpenden but if you head to the entrance of the Highfield Oval, there is a step free entrance. This route has some extra countryside walking to make up the extra distance, it takes you on a stroll through the pretty Graffidge Wood, and then towards the end the walk it takes you on a public path through the gorgeous grounds of Knebworth House.
