Round table in Tbilisi state medical university

The Center For Foreign Students Rights Protection and Integration hosted a Round table meeting at Tbilisi State Medical University on February 29th 2016. The main goal of meeting was to identify existing problems of students who currently reside in Georgia and find solutions together to solve it. The event were attended by students from Nigeria, Liberia, Sri Lanka, India, Burundi and Antigua and Barbuda. They study in different universities of Georgia; some of them are International Black Sea University, University of Georgia, Caucasian International University, Tbilisi State Medical University and etc. The meeting was also attended by honored guest speakers from different ministries of Georgia. The Ministry of Education and science was represented by Eka Rurua – Main specialist of student’s social support division and Nino Svanidze – Main Specialist of higher education development division. The public defender’s office was represented by civil, political, economic, social and cultural affairs department’s employee Beka Javakhadze. At the beginning of meeting Center representatives introduced to audience main goals and objectives of organization and later on continued Q&A session. Students identified main issues like visa and bank problems, discussed discriminatory facts from the public, as well as deficiency in the educational system. Invited guests answered all the questions to students within their competence, gave them specific advice and guidelines on how to deal existing challenges. We also had invited representatives from the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of internal affairs, but unfortunately they didn’t show up. The center would like to thank Tbilisi State Medical University and all participants for an interesting and fruitful meeting.
